Patients are Family at Uptown Eyecare

Running a family owned and operated optometry practice since 2014, Drs. Christopher McCann and Vanessa Morales McCann have practiced in the Central Florida area since the early 2000s. Both doctors attended medical school at Nova Southeastern University, and both are members of the Florida Optometric Association and American Optometric Association.

Uptown Eyecare specializes in routine medical eye care including eye exams, contact lenses, glaucoma exams and diabetic eye exams.
Dr. Morales McCann notes that she always looked forward to seeing her eye doctor at a young age. This, plus the inspiration from her family, propelled her desire to go into medicine. Dr. McCann chose to work in the medical field to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Mentoring Moments

The doctors’ mentors also helped them establish their career and get to where they are today. Dr. McCann credits Dr. John Spalding, Dr. Brian Den Best, Dr. David Lynne and Dr. Elias Mavofrides as his mentors. He met all of them during his residency and says that he appreciates the time they took to educate him on various disease and treatment methods while also helping him perfect the way he communicates with his patients.

Dr. Morales McCann has been inspired by her family, who came to the United States from Puerto Rico in the 1950s and instilled principals of working hard toward her goals, staying focused, keeping her faith and respecting all people. These principals have positively impacted her career.

More Than a Doctor

In their spare time, both doctors enjoy spending time with family, kayaking and traveling. Dr. McCann specifically enjoys plays guitar to help him unwind after a day at the office.
