CFHLA Supports Local Students

At the CFHLA Gives Membership Luncheon, which was held on April 26 at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort, the Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association Foundation distributed $240,000 in Central Florida hospitality student scholarships.

For the fourth consecutive year, CFHLA awarded a Don and Lorraine Freeberg Foundation full-ride student scholarship for $40,000 to a local high school senior who will be attending the UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management upon graduation. Additionally, a new multi-year, $10,000 Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort scholarship was established.

Scholarships & Grants

In total, 45 local high school and college hospitality students were awarded scholarships ranging from one-time $1,000 scholarships to multi-year $2,000 to $10,000 scholarships.

The CFHLA Foundation awarded hospitality education grants to Hagerty High School, Orange County Public Schools, Orange Technical College, Osceola High School, Osceola Technical College, UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management, Valencia College and Windermere High School.

In addition to the educational grants awarded, the CFHLA Foundation was proud to distribute grants to the following community organizations: Boy Scouts of America, Central Florida, Osceola Arts, Orlando Health Foundation and the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. A $20,000 grant totaling $100,000 over the next five years was also awarded to Lift Orlando to aid in the revitalization of the area surrounding Camping World Stadium, known as West Lakes.
