10 Interior Design Trends for 2019

Designing a home can get overwhelming with so many details – both trendy and classic – that you can put into a room to make it your own. Here are some of 2019’s biggest interior design trends to help guide you on your next design project.

1. Natural Elements
Having organic materials, natural stones and greenery in the home is a big trend. It makes the space feel fresh and allows you to bring some outdoor elements in.

2. Terrazzo
This material is in and it’s bringing a throwback feel with it. Consisting of marble or granite chips set in polished concrete, terrazzo comes in different shades that can be used on more than just flooring, including on coffee tables, shower walls or countertops.

3. Floral patterns
Florals are fun, fresh and girly. They’re a creative way of bringing nature indoors. Expect to see this pattern on anything from wallpapers to bedding and chairs. Floral patterns brighten up any room with a pop of color.

4. Geometric patterns
Incorporating geometric patterns, whether it’s on a wall or on a throw pillow, is a great way to add a bold statement piece to any room. Like florals, geometric designs will brighten any space.

5. Curvy Designs
Curvy furniture inspired by the 1970s is making a comeback. Everything from smaller chairs to big couches are becoming curved, making a space feel more intimate yet trendy and chic.

6. Art Deco
Invite this design style into your home for a glamorous feel. Art Deco is all about varying shapes, textures and bright colors. Mixing metals can also add a touch of Art Deco to your home.

7. Statement Ceilings
A room that’s all one color can be boring. Instead of painting an accent wall, consider a statement ceiling. It’s a fun way to add an interesting element to a room while making it feel larger.

8. Shades of Green
Green will be trending in 2019 because rich greens are associated with nature. This color has a calming effect and can make a room feel more relaxed, yet elegant, so don’t be afraid to include it in your design.

9. Mixing Vintage with New
This year, it’s in with the old and the new. Incorporating vintage pieces in a new design adds character and personality. For example, hanging an antique lighting fixture over a modern dining room set provides a touch of charm while keeping the rest of the room fresh and new.

10. Velvet Furniture
Designers believe velvet will be one of 2019’s biggest trends. It is a luxurious, fun fabric that will liven up a space. Consider a bright velvet for couches and headboards. If you want to include a nod to this trend in a smaller way, arrange some velvet throw pillows on your furniture.
