NEA Big Read Keynote with author, poet Dr. Ross Gay
Join the Orange County Public Library, Downtown Orlando Branch, as they Host author Ross Gay
on Sunday, April 2, 2023
Event Description:
Ross Gay will read from Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude, a sustained meditation on that which goes away—loved ones, the seasons, the earth as we know it—that tries to find solace in the processes of the garden and the orchard. That is, this is a book that studies the wisdom of the garden and orchard, those places where all—death, sorrow, loss—is converted into what might, with patience, nourish us.
Registration is not required to attend. Guests that register will receive a copy of the book Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude at the event.
Sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture, the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
About the author:
Doctor Ross Gay is the author of four books of poetry: Against Which; Bringing the Shovel Down; Be Holding, winner of the PEN American Literary Jean Stein Award; and Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude, winner of the 2015 National Book Critics Circle Award and the 2016 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award. His first collection of essays, The Book of Delights, was released in 2019 and was a New York Times bestseller. His new collection of essays, Inciting Joy, will be released by Algonquin in October of 2022.
