How Well Did The Dr. Phillips Center Do It’s First Year?

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts celebrated its grand opening on November 6-22, 2014 with a ribbon cutting, open house events, a free local community concert, a gala, and performances from local arts groups and major artists. Since then, offerings have grown to include private events, Broadway performances and educational opportunities from the Dr. Phillips Center Florida Hospital School of the Arts.

With a total of 287 performances and 300,000 attendees to the shows, the numbers tell the story in the performing arts center’s inaugural year.

“We had an incredible year that started with a community open house. We saw record-breaking numbers, amazing performances, and students of all ages taking class,” Kathy Ramsberger, president and CEO of the Dr. Phillips Center, says. “We have exciting things going on right now – our School of Arts classes for spring and Broadway Master Classes are open and on sale now. We have terrific shows on sale now, including Kristen Chenoweth, who will be here for a one-of-a-kind New Year’s Eve Celebration. And we have big plans for the future.”
