Tamron Hall, talk show host and journalist, brought star power and joy to the kickoff of Black History Month at Walt Disney World Resort on Saturday, February 1. Leading her family through a day filled with Disney magic and cultural celebration, Hall took part in the “Celebrate Soulfully” festivities, highlighting Black history, art, and entertainment.
A Grand Marshal with a Mission
Hall took center stage as the grand marshal of a jubilant parade down Main Street, U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom Park. Surrounded by Disney characters, lively music, and enthusiastic crowds, she led the procession in true Disney fashion, embodying the spirit of joy and unity that the month represents.
Beyond the parade, Hall and her family enjoyed thrilling attractions like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and shared magical moments meeting beloved Disney characters, including Princess Tiana, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto. Hall’s presence underscored the importance of representation and the power of storytelling for all generations.
“Celebrate Soulfully” All Month Long
Walt Disney World’s Black History Month celebration extends far beyond the parade, offering guests a chance to “Celebrate Soulfully” with a dynamic mix of art, music, entertainment, and cuisine throughout February.
Spotlight on Black Artists
Four Black artists are taking center stage at the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, showcasing their unique works on select days through mid-February. Additionally, the DISNEY ON BROADWAY Concert Series at America Gardens Theatre features performances by talented Black artists on select nights, adding musical vibrancy to the festivities.
Disney Springs also joins the celebration with its Art Walk, where murals by Black artists reflect cultural pride and artistic expression. This year, a stunning new mural by Washington D.C.-based artist Brandon Hill makes its debut, offering a fresh perspective on creativity and heritage.
A Feast for the Senses
No celebration is complete without food, and Walt Disney World’s “Celebrate Soulfully” menu delivers on flavor. Guests can indulge in comforting classics like blackened salmon and peach cobbler, prepared by a diverse team of Disney chefs. These soul-warming dishes honor tradition while bringing new and exciting tastes to the table.
Disney Magic Year-Round
Representation and inclusion remain at the heart of Disney’s storytelling. Visitors can continue celebrating diversity throughout the parks by meeting iconic characters such as Princess Tiana at Magic Kingdom, Ariel from the live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Asha from Wish at EPCOT.
For those inspired by Hall’s magical experience, Walt Disney World offers a variety of ticket, dining, and hotel packages to make the dream trip a reality. Families can explore special promotions at www.DisneyWorld.com/offers and keep the magic alive all year long.
From breathtaking performances to unforgettable flavors, Black History Month at Walt Disney World celebrates culture, creativity, and community. Just like Tamron Hall, every guest is invited to step into the magic and “Celebrate Soulfully” throughout February and beyond.
