Local Bank Gives Back

Last month, SunTrust bank awarded $25,000 to Community Based Care of Central Florida’s First Star Central Florida Academy for the purchase of new laptops. For select students in foster care, the academy provides workshops and mentoring services that focus on improving their academic success, personal and social development, and self-sufficiency skills.
Community Based Care of Central Florida is a nonprofit agency that develops community-based services and supports children and families who are served by the child welfare system in Seminole, Orange and Osceola counties.
The check presentation was attended by Gerry Glynn, Dr. Cookie Schultz, Rebecca Leininger and Kristie Homer of Community Based Care of Central Florida; Scott Weidl and Dr. Mike Painter of Westside Tech – Orange County Public Schools; Randy Pawlowski of Seminole State College; Deana Lewis of SunTrust; and Pat Pates from the University of Central Florida.
