Disney’s The Lion King Returns to Orlando’s Walt Disney Theater Starting April 23

The Broadway production of Disney’s The Lion King is scheduled to return to the Walt Disney Theater at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts beginning April 23. The musical will run in Orlando for nearly four weeks.

Since its Broadway debut in 1997, The Lion King has been staged in cities around the world, with over 100 million people attending performances to date. The production is known for its combination of theatrical staging, costume design, and musical arrangements.

Directed by Julie Taymor, the musical incorporates choreography by Garth Fagan and features music by Elton John and Tim Rice. The show includes well-known songs such as “Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata,” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” as well as additional compositions created specifically for the stage adaptation.

The Lion King has received multiple accolades, including six Tony Awards®, one of which was for Best Musical. The production is recognized for its use of puppetry, set design, and visual effects to depict a fictionalized version of the African savanna.

Performances will take place at the Walt Disney Theater, located at the Dr. Phillips Center in downtown Orlando. Ticket sales and performance schedules are available at drphillipscenter.org.
