Orange County Political Debate

In looking back over the past 14 years as president/CEO of the West Orange Chamber of Commerce (WOCC), I am proud of the many ways that our influential voice has paid dividends to the businesses and citizens of this community.

The primary role of a 21st century chamber is to be a watchdog for members on issues that will be detractors from a positive business climate. Over the years, we have vocalized our support for initiatives that have lowered business expenses, protected small businesses, increased economic development and improved local infrastructure.

This month, on May 11, we will hold a luncheon featuring the Orange County Commissioner District 1 Debate. The debate, presented by the West Orange Political Alliance, the Observer Media Group and Hamlin, in partnership with our Luncheon Series Sponsor, Orlando Health, will feature the candidates vying for the seat that is currently held by Commissioner S. Scott Boyd whose term expires this year.

Each candidate will have the opportunity to speak on issues such as economic development, public safety and the growth of Orange County. Tanner Hall will easily reach capacity, so I highly recommend that you purchase your tickets as soon as they are available.
