City of Orlando Shares Tips as Tropical Storm Colin Approaches

As Tropical Storm Colin moves through the area today and into tomorrow morning, the main threat is heavy rain with a chance of flooding, strong winds and possible tornadoes. The City of Orlando has issued the following information for residents:

Yard Debris and Pickup
The City is asking residents to help us prevent flooding by not placing tree trimmings or any types of loose waste or yard debris at their curb.

During a severe weather event, these items can clog storm drains which may result in flooding of property and/or the street.

At this time, normal yard waste pick up for Tuesday is expected to continue as normal; however, citizens are encouraged to hold their yard waste if possible.

Recreation and Community Center Closures
All City of Orlando Community Centers, Recreation Centers and Pools will close today at 3:00 p.m.

Additionally all sporting and event activities as well as scheduled programs have been canceled after 3:00 p.m. today and this evening at the City’s Recreation Centers, Community Centers, Parks and Recreation Facilities.
