Bringing Families Together

Family Room:
Beauty Above
In this formal family room, the ceiling is the centerpiece of the space. Since it was built with the home, the entire room’s design was based around the Venetian plaster masterpiece. The black and gold color scheme found throughout the space complements the warm tones in the paint and the gold in the borders and details. The beautiful chandelier not only centers this work of art but also offers an elegant source of lighting.
Pretty Patterns
The mixing and matching of patterns in the furnishings brings harmony to the space.
The fabric in each pillow on the couch can be matched to the main fabric on the chairs and bench that are placed across from it. The black and gold details on the framing for the seating elements and side tables represent the same colors in the drapery. By not matching the patterns exactly, a sense of texture and balance is created in the details without being too ornate.
Patio:
Bringing the Inside Out
Including a fireplace in an outdoor family room space is a playful way to bring the inside out. This fireplace is practical because it is fueled by gas. Gas fireplaces make for easy cleaning and are a fantastic alternative to a wood-burning fire pit for those few-and-far-between chilly nights in Florida. It is also a homey place to gather with friends and family.
Weathering the Elements
Each seating area is covered with sumbrella, a fabric that is resistant to the elements, whether it is sunshine, rain or wind. Since it doesn’t fade with the sun, this fabric makes the furniture longer lasting so it can be enjoyed for years to come. Even better, it is easy to clean and doesn’t create mildew after a rainstorm.
A Place to Gather
The dining table is the perfect addition to the space, and since it is built with teak wood, it is also weather resistant. Just like the home’s formal family room area, the patterns in the fabric can be found throughout the space – in this case the table runner – bringing a sense of harmony. In this space, the details are present, from the accent pillows to the decorations, without being overpowering.
