On Thursday, February 26, The Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association (CFHLA) honored Orange County Commissioner, Jennifer Thompson, District 4, with the ‘2014 CFHLA Public Servant of the Year Award.’ This annual recognition honors elected leaders who have shown dedication to the advancement of the Central Florida tourism and hospitality industry.
Commissioner Thompson has been an important partner of Central Florida’s tourism and hospitality industry. She supported the development of the new downtown Orlando venues, including the Soccer Specific Stadium, The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and the renovated Orlando Citrus Bowl; guaranteed funding for renovations to the Orange County Convention Center; and added funding for Visit Orlando to help promote Orlando as a world-class travel destination.
Additionally, Commissioner Thompson has been a tireless advocate for small business owners that operate in the tourism and hospitality industry. She has helped protect these and other small businesses in our region from potentially harmful ballot initiatives that would have negatively impacted the hardworking owners that employ thousands of individuals in Central Florida.
CFHLA Congratulates Commissioner Thompson for continuing to advance the tourism and hospitality industry.
