Fighting Foreclosure

If you are sued for foreclosure, the only wrong thing to do is nothing. Depending on how you want to proceed, legal counsel and an experienced realtor can be a huge help. If you want to keep your home, then you need to cooperate by responding to the papers you were served and try to attend a mediation, which is a meeting with the bank to work out a deal. If you want to get rid of the home, then you almost always should try a short sale first. Even if you want to try to just sign the home over to the bank, you generally need to try to sell it first. Also, if you have a Homeowners’ Association, keep paying those dues no matter what. If you do all that you can and you still lose the house, then there are ways to do that properly also. Make sure you reach out for legal help.
