To the Capitol We Go

February is here and so is one of our most beloved annual events, Capitol Connection! We will once again host our trip to Tallahassee on February 17-18. We will meet with decision makers and legislators and flex our muscle on issues concerning our region. Historically, this trip has had a very positive impact on our area and keeps our chamber on the cutting edge of state government. This year we are excited to welcome the Greater Sanford Regional Chamber of Commerce as a partner. We believe going up together will create a stronger impact. This overnight trip will include meetings with legislators, great commentary from lobbyists and cabinet members, tours of landmarks, and relationship-building opportunities with fellow chamber members. If your business has questions or concerns to be brought up to our legislators, this is the perfect time to find some answers. We believe this year’s trip will continue to be successful with our chamber’s new leader, President/CEO Todd Sykes.

Todd Sykes is an Orlando native. He recently served as the Central Florida market manager for Florida’ s Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater. Prior to his position with the CFO, Todd served as the deputy director of constituent services for Senator Marco Rubio. Todd also served in similar roles for Senators George LeMieux and Mel Martinez. Todd also worked for former Congressman Tom Feeney and interned in Congressman Mica’s Washington, D.C. office. Additionally, Todd worked on the Bush-Cheney ‘04 campaign and George W. Bush’s presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C.

Along with our Capitol Connection trip, we will also be preparing for the 21st Annual Taste of Oviedo. This year, we are excited to present “Cirque Du Taste of Oviedo” with exciting cirque performances and entertainment happening at multiple points in the venue. Taste of Oviedo is the most anticipated event of the year at our chamber. If you are interested in sponsorship or booth space, contact us today.
