This transformational project will allow UCF to address the critical nursing shortage facing our communities by graduating more Knight nurses to care for our families, friends and neighbors, more Knight nurses to lead nursing into the future, and more Knight nurses to educate future generations,” she says.
Her words paint a picture of a future brightened by the Pavilion’s influence, empowering Knight nurses to provide compassionate care and lead the evolution of nursing.

Technology emerges as a critical ally in the battle against the nursing deficit. Reports by Accenture indicate that tech-forward approaches can bolster nurse retention, streamline processes, and usher in a new era of digital empowerment.
With the capacity to graduate an additional 150 nurses annually, with tripled lab and simulation space, the Pavilion promises to be a vessel for technological advancement and hands-on learning.
“Space has been added for our nurse researchers to conduct studies, including a wet lab for those with a basic science background and labs for biobehavioral research, such as walking studies and focus groups,” Sole shares. “There will also be dedicated spaces for students to not only study but to rest, relax, and practice self-care, which is critically important for their mental health and success in clinical practice.”
Here, the next generation of nurses will be sculpted, armed with the tools to navigate the complexities of a high-tech healthcare landscape.

The realization of this project is fueled by the generosity of donors and the unyielding support of the State of Florida. These partnerships go beyond mere financial aid, fostering hands-on experiences that are the bedrock of UCF’s exemplary nursing programs.
“Community partnerships have been, and will continue to be, essential to nursing education at UCF and critical to our success as one of the nation’s best nursing programs,” Sole says. “Our undergraduate and graduate students gain hands-on learning and education at our community partners’ facilities through clinicals. Partnerships also support faculty research and much-needed student scholarships.”

The College of Nursing’s proximity to UCF’s College of Medicine as part of the UCF Academic Health Sciences Campus will aid in boosting further collaboration. How? By inspiring and producing more skilled and compassionate graduates who will improve the patient experience in the healthcare industry.
“Knight nurses are sought-after by employers, renowned for their compassion and clinical excellence. If you’ve received care at one of our partner’s facilities, you most likely received care from a UCF Knight nurse,” Sole shares. “UCF graduates the most newly licensed nurses in the State University System of Florida — most, 85%, of our 16,000+ alumni, remain in Florida, and nearly 60% stay here in Central Florida.”
