Does the thought of indulging in succulent shrimp, savory scallops or surf and turf make your taste buds tingle with anticipation? Are you hankering for freshly caught, mouthwatering seafood? Are you dreaming of an unforgettable dining experience as you listen to the waves of the Atlantic Ocean in the distance?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, I have fabulous news: The New Smyrna Beach Inaugural Coastal Catch Month, originally scheduled from October 1-31, is now extended through November 15th.
New Smyrna Beach is a phenomenal destination for culinary connoisseurs, with a wide array of locally owned and operated dining establishments, innovative experiences and exciting culinary events. Their Inaugural NSB Coastal Catch Month has been such an overwhelming hit, many of the participating restaurants are extending this event through November 15th.
What is Coastal Catch Restaurant Month?
The New Smyrna Beach Area’s dazzling foodie scene is no longer an insider secret. To celebrate their most beloved restaurants and showcase the region’s coastal heritage, New Smyrna Beach launched their inaugural culinary celebration.
From exclusive dishes, special menus and elevated dining experiences all featuring local catches and locally sourced ingredients prepared by renowned chefs, diners can indulge in three course prix fixe menus priced at $39 and $59.
As a fan of all things New Smyrna Beach, I couldn’t resist popping over to my favorite east coast beach town to check it out. After all, it’s a quick one hour and two-minute drive from my driveway. Most of us spend more time driving to the theme parks.
Joy by the Sea
My first stop was checking into my villa (yes, I said villa) at the exquisite Joy by the Sea. A stunning hidden gem, this luxury resort features lavish villas with serene ambience and spectacular oceanfront views, a perfect choice for your New Smyrna Beach getaway.
This exclusive 5-star property is a perfect choice if you’re planning a family vacation, reunion, or a simple stay for one. Each villa is loaded with eclectic touches, with an impressive eye for the smallest detail. I especially enjoyed the intricate tile work, the multi-level floor plan with premium furnishings, high-end appliances, all surrounding a refreshing saltwater pool. They even feature a stunning villa called The Queen’s Gambit House. My only regret was having to leave the next day.
My first stop for the evening was the splendid SoNapa Grille, a unique dining experience that combines the flavors of Southern and Napa Valley cuisine. Each delectable dish is crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, along with their expert culinary artistry.
SoNapa Grille offers two menu options, one with wine and one without. I was tempted, but I had some driving ahead of me and skipped the alcohol.
My meal started off with Course One, their perfectly prepared Passion Fruit BBQ Grilled Shrimp, which was practically enough for an entrée.
Course Two was a choice between Lobster Bisque or SoNapa Salad. As an ardent bisque fan, my choice was simple. I wasn’t disappointed, as the smooth and creamy bisque has a velvety texture and a rich flavor.
Course Three was a choice between the “Bodega Bay” Catch of the Day or their Signature Chicken Marsala. It was a tough decision, but I went with the Chicken Marsala, which is flavorful and juicy. The chicken is tender, beautifully prepared, and the sauce is divine. The fabulous food combined with the excellent service made my dining experience a delight.
While all the participating restaurants are top-notch, another standout is Riverpark Terrace, which offers a vegan option. I recommend the Steak Au Poivre, a black pepper-crusted filet, creamy cognac, and peppercorn sauce. My steak was a perfect medium-rare, a nice crust on the outside of the filet, and so tender, I didn’t need a steak knife.
With so many incredible dining options to choose from, there is something for everyone. Be sure to check out their website to learn more about the participating restaurants, make your reservations and get ready to experience some of the finest dining New Smyrna Beach has to offer.
