The First Academy: 30 Years of Excellence

On Aug. 16, 1987, The First Academy opened its doors with a mission to prepare children for life as Christian leaders. For the past 30 years, this Christ-centered, college-preparatory school has developed students through world-class teaching and learning, and life-changing spiritual formation.

Parents choose and remain at TFA because of the safe environment, caring teachers and academic excellence their children receive. “My daughter is excited to come to school every single day because she is excited to see her teachers,” says Laura Eitel, a TFA Lower School parent. “She knows that her teachers love the Lord and she knows that they love her.”

With a 100 percent college acceptance rate, the teachers are certainly doing their part. “They say it takes a village to raise children and we picked the right village,” says Heather Howell, whose children attend TFA’s Lower School.

The students are also aware that their school is special because of the teachers. “The teachers at TFA take the time to work with you and find out what’s going on in your life,” says Enzo, an 11th-grade student. “It makes learning more valuable. It’s what makes TFA so special.”

These are just some of the accomplishments that highlight TFA’s excellence:

Record Enrollment: Enrollment is at an all-time high. TFA has responded to dramatic growth with the future in full view. With award-winning curriculum, technology, arts and athletics programs, TFA is uniquely positioned to prepare students, from preschool to graduation, for leadership in the 21st century.

Parent University: Parent partnership is a top priority, and TFA believes in empowering and equipping parents with strong resources to raise children within today’s society. TFA’s Parent University courses include “Digital Citizenship” to help parents navigate the realm of social media and “College Prep for Parents,” beginning in the elementary school years.

Student Leaders: TFA invests time and resources to ensure students experience fellowship and leadership opportunities. During the first week of school, all students in 9th through 12th grades participated in community service and off-campus retreats. The retreats included building relationships with young students at TFA’s Lower School and focusing on spiritual formation at a three-day camp.

Campus Expansion: The Cramer Family Field House opened its doors in spring 2017 as TFA’s innovative, state-of-the-art athletic complex. The impressive new facility houses an NBA regulation-sized competition court and the new Royal School Store. It’s a stellar location for student athletes and life-changing spiritual formation, too. What was planned as a 15-minute prayer on Aug. 21 in the Field House turned into an hour of students voluntarily standing at center court to pray for their peers and the nation.
