FSU to Resume Class and Business Operations Following Deadly Campus Shooting

FSU has announced that its main campus will return to regular classes and business operations on Monday, April 21, following a deadly shooting incident that left two people dead and six others injured.

The shooting occurred shortly before noon on Thursday near the FSU Student Union and concluded within minutes. Law enforcement responded swiftly, and the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Phoenix Ikner—a current FSU student and son of a Leon County Sheriff’s Office deputy—was shot by police and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

University officials confirmed that normal campus functions will resume at the start of the week. In a statement, FSU encouraged students who may need academic support to contact their instructors for potential accommodations. Faculty and staff requiring assistance should reach out to their supervisors or department deans.
