The First Academy is On the Move

Families are excited about The First Academy’s brand new transportation option, which makes it easy for students to get to and from school.

On Aug. 14, The First Academy introduced a brand new transportation option for K4 through grade 12 students. Powered by Maya’s Transportation, the school’s new bus route starts in Keene’s Pointe, making additional stops in downtown Windermere and at The Grove. These stops provide easy access for TFA families. It is also the first private school bus in the area to be wrapped in school colors.

Each year, additional routes will be considered. TFA is currently gauging interest in routes in Lake Nona and St. Cloud; Dr. Phillips, Celebration, Kissimmee and ChampionsGate; and Winter Garden, in the Fowlers Grove and Maguire areas. Families who are interested in utilizing the bussing service are encouraged to complete an interest form on the school’s website.

“We love the TFA bus! It has been so helpful to our family! The driver is very kind and attentive to the attendance and care of the kids. We are beyond pleased,” says a TFA parent of a bus rider.

What You Need to Know

TFA educators understand that providing a safe environment for students is essential for their success, and that includes reliable transportation to and from school. Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about TFA’s school bus so you can see if this option is a fit for your family.

1. Is there a fee? There is a small per-month cost for roundtrip transportation. The price varies by location and route. Discounts are available for multiple children.

2. How many students does the bus hold? A minimum of 12 students are required from an area for the bus to run there, and there is a maximum of 16 riders at each route.

3. Can my student ride? There is an opportunity for students at The Classical School and The First Hope to participate in bussing as well. If your student attends one of these schools, Maya’s Transportation will work with you directly regarding your options for bussing.

4. Can my student be picked up at home? If your family is interested in one of TFA’s bussing options but a stop on the route isn’t convenient to your location, at-home pick-ups can be arranged through a Maya’s Transportation representative.
