Today, students from the Montverde Academy theatre conservatory kick off their season with a production of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” based on Victor Hugo’s novel.
Set around the iconic Notre Dame in Paris during the reign of Louis XI, Quasimodo (played by Daniel Mills) meets and falls in love with Esmerelda (played by Peytann Tamasi). However, the beautiful gypsy is actually in love with Pheobus (played by Aidan Fracker). Quasimodo’s master, Dom Claude Follo (played by Anthony Morehead) adds another layer to this love triangle when he also falls in love with Esmerelda.
In addition to inspiring storytelling, this production includes songs from the Disney animated feature that were created by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. Montverde Academy’s award-winning student performers will bring this unforgettable musical to life through Sept. 29.
