A Classic Taste of Roy’s Restaurant

In the past several years, Orlando has made its mark as a city for foodies. From casual cuisine to fine dining, new restaurants from talented chefs continue opening in all areas of Central Florida. But there are some tried and true favorites that never go out of style.

The chefs at Roy’s Restaurant, which is one of Restaurant Row’s original concepts, consistently revamp the menu to keep the offerings fresh and modern while honoring the restaurant’s history of using European techniques to create delicious Pacific Rim cuisine. Most recently, Roy’s added new dishes to its Aloha Hour menu, which is available from 2:59 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily and from 9 p.m. to close Monday through Saturday. In addition to classics like Lobster Pot Stickers and Kalua Pork Sliders, guests can now order new creations such as an Ahi Tuna Sandwich, featuring layers of fresh seared ahi tuna and togarashi served on a baguette with tsunomo and wasabi aioli, and Rock Shrimp Tempura, a mixture of rock shrimp, shishito peppers and hon shimeji mushrooms. There’s also the Peppercorn Ahi Tuna Lettuce Wraps, which includes fresh ahi tuna, lettuce leaves, kim chee, yuzu aioli and crispy onions.

Cocktails include the Hawaiian Martini, an Aloha Hour classic that mixes Stoli Vanil Vodka and Malibu Coconut Rum and tops it off with a Maui pineapple drenched in SKYY vodka, and Roy’s Island Mai Tai, a special Roy’s recipe with a Cruzan Black Strap Rum float. Craft beer, well drinks, wine and sake are also offered at Aloha Hour pricing.

The cost of Aloha Hour is just as appealing as the new restaurant food items. The menu is priced as followed:

  • Craft Beer $3
  • Well Drinks $5
  • Cocktails $7
  • Hand-Selected Wines & Sake $7
  • Premium Wine by the Glass $9
  • Bar Bites $5.59-$14.59
  • Signature Sushi Rolls $8-$18

New food items pop up on the main menu, too. Try the Jade Pesto Steamed Whitefish on the Chef’s Tasting Menu. The flaky fish is accompanied by baby bok choy and warm scallion shoyu ponzu. Or dig into the new Lobster Ramen with lobster miso broth, a dish full of umami flavor and generous chunks of Maine lobster meat. You can even try making the Lobster Ramen at home with this recipe.

A meal at Roy’s isn’t complete without a bite of one of the restaurant kitchen’s signature desserts. Roy’s Melting Hot Chocolate Souffle is a rich dish featuring a flourless chocolate cake with molten hot center, raspberry coulis and vanilla bean ice cream. Then you have the Pineapple Upside Down Cake, caramelized pineapple baked with brown sugar pound cake that is served a la mode.

Roy’s Restaurant is located at 7760 W. Sand Lake Road, Orlando, FL 32819.
