Free pre-participation sports physicals and electrocardiogram (ECG) screenings will be available for Volusia County students from April 2-5 at the Daytona International Speedway, located at 1801 W. International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach, as announced in a news release by AdventHealth.
The event is open to Volusia County public school student-athletes, ROTC cadets, band members, and firefighting academy students. It is part of an ongoing partnership between AdventHealth and Volusia County schools to support student health and safety.
The physical includes ECG heart screenings, which exceed state and county requirements. These screenings are provided due to the risk of sudden cardiac arrest among high school athletes.
Students interested in participating can pre-register at www.VCSSportsPhysicals.com.
Free sports physicals have been offered to student-athletes in both Volusia and Flagler counties for several years. The event has grown in attendance and is now one of the largest community health initiatives in the region.
In 2024, nearly 1,800 students from Volusia and Flagler counties, including athletes, JROTC cadets, fire academy students, and band members, received free physicals. The release said more than 15% of participants reported not having a primary care physician, highlighting the role of this event in providing access to medical screenings and guidance.
