A Community-Focused Event

Each year, the Thanksgiving Project grows in both scope and impact. This year, top sponsors including Smart City Telecom, Publix Super Markets, Orlando Health, Fairwinds Credit Union, and Lockheed Martin are helping to make the event a success. The Central Florida Fairgrounds will serve as the Packing Party Host Sponsor, providing a space for volunteers to unite in the mission of helping local families.

The event is open to volunteers of all ages, with a special “Friends & Family” Night on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., encouraging families to participate together. There will also be an “Alternative Happy Hour” shift on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., for those who want to give back after work or school.

Meal kits will be distributed on Saturday, Nov. 23, at three designated locations. Pre-registration was required for families to receive a meal kit, and all kits are now accounted for. Those without confirmation will unfortunately not be served. The project’s goal is to provide local families with the resources they need to enjoy a festive and nutritious holiday meal without the financial burden.

How You Can Help

Even if you can’t volunteer in person, you can still make a meaningful difference. Heart of Florida United Way is accepting monetary donations to sponsor meal kits for local families. If you’d like to contribute, simply text ‘TURKEY’ to 85511 or visit hfuw.org/TGP2024 to donate online.
