The fashion industry is driven by trends, both unique and timeless. Earlier this year, The Pantone Color Institute released its Fashion Color Trend Report, highlighting the color trends that we’ll be seeing this fall and winter. This season’s color palette brings back the classics with a bit of flair and personality.
“Offering a rich narrative, the color palette for Autumn/Winter 2020/2021 highlights our desire for versatile, timeless color. Reflecting a ‘less is more’ mindset that is becoming increasingly important to consumers prioritizing value and functionality, our color palette is stripped of excess,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Imbued with strength and personality, colors for Autumn/Winter 2020/2021 encourage our ongoing desire for unique self-expression through creative and unusual visual statements that stand out.”
The mix of bold colors and classic shades offers a wide variety of options, whether you’re dressing up for a night on the town or heading into the office. Here are some of our favorites from the Fall/Winter 2020/2021 palette along with some ideas on integrating these trends into your wardrobe.
Amberglow
Description: “A radiant autumnal orange, Amberglow promotes self-confidence and creative self-expression.”
Try it: This bold shade offers a beautiful pop of color for any outfit. Paired with a neutral navy or a soft off-white color, such as this year’s Almond Oil, Amberglow will be the star of your outfit. Accessorize a neutral dress with an Amberglow handbag or pumps to bring a bit of personality to your everyday look.
Fired Brick
Description: ”Strong and sturdy, Fired Brick adds gravitas.”
Try It: A classic holiday hue, this color exudes elegance and style. A dress in Fired Brick paired with a gold blazer or a sequined hand bag is perfect for a formal office holiday party. You can also trade out the blazer for a black leather jacket to meet your girlfriends out on the town.
Sleet
Description: “Highlighting our desire for longevity, Sleet is a timeless gray that is dependable, solid and everlasting.”
Try It: Gray is the perfect neutral because it can go with almost anything while exuding a sense of timeless style. A pair of Sleet pants combined with a shirt in this season’s Green Sheen or Magenta Purple screams sophistication with a bit of fun.
Peach Nougat
Description: “Nurturing Peach Nougat embraces with its inviting warmth.”
Try It: Peach is a fantastic shade because it allows you to add some flair to your outfit without going over the top. Choose a loose-fitted blouse in this color and pair it with a Sleet pencil skirt for a smart office look that can transition to happy hour with the right accessories.
