Give Kids the World Village

When school is out, volunteering is in. Whether your teenager needs to complete their volunteer requirements for college applications or you’re looking to give back, donating your time to local organizations like these will have you feeling good about having fun.

Center for Independent Living
With a mission of breaking down barriers for individuals living with disabilities, the Center for Independent Living offers resources and accessibility options in seven Central Florida counties. Construction companies, contractors, individuals and corporate groups are invited to #JoinTheRAMPAGE to help build ramps for those in need of accessibility and independence. CIL also has opportunities to volunteers at its Winter Park office, helping with administrative tasks such as data entry, answering phones and shredding.

Central Florida Community Arts
When you volunteer with Central Florida Community Arts, you’re joining their efforts to build and serve the community the arts. Volunteers are invited to assist with ushering, ticket sales and concessions at events; putting technical skills, such as production, audio/video and web design, to work at shows; and completing general administrative duties in the office.

Give Kids the World Village
There are plenty of volunteer opportunities at Give Kids the World Village, where individuals can provide hope for kids with life-threatening illnesses. From preparing frosty treats at the Ice Cream Palace to assisting the kids with playing a life-sized version of Candy Land or leading an arts and crafts session at Ashley’s Art Corner, volunteers build priceless memories alongside the kids and their families.

Oakland Nature Preserve
Summer always comes with the expectation of being out in the sun – relaxing by a pool, playing baseball or kayaking in Central Florida’s beautiful waterways. Various projects at Oakland Nature Preserve, such as habitat restoration, trail maintenance and the removal of invasive plant species, allow individuals to have fun in the sun while leaving their own volunteer legacy. There are also opportunities to volunteer as a tour guide or museum docent and to assist with one of Oakland’s Nature Preserve’s events throughout the year.

Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando
Volunteers with the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando have the opportunity to helps dogs and cats find their forever homes. Opportunities are available in the administrative department, greeting guests and answering questions, as well as in the call center and for community engagement initiatives. The Bark Buddy and Kitty Cuddler positions allow volunteers to work directly with the animals as they collaborate with shelter staff members to ensure daily socialization, exercise and care of shelter pets.
