Bonnie Hardie, owner of “Rock Solid Mindset/Life/Gratitude Coaching,” is a beacon of hope for mid-life women seeking to break free from the shackles of their minds. As an international podcast guest and summit expert, she speaks on topics ranging from personal development to domestic violence.

What is your WHY?

My “why” is that I don’t want to see women feeling lost and adrift, wondering, “Is this all there is to life?” or “What’s left for me?”

I want women to feel empowered and not let things that have happened in their past stop them from living the life of their dreams. I want them to reclaim their joy and passion. I also want to help people who have been abused, bullied, forgotten about, abandoned, etc. I want to show them they are great and that it is a privilege to know them and be their friend.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced? What did you learn from it?

My biggest challenge has been homelessness. Getting proper sleep, eating correctly, having privacy, losing friends because of it, having people treat me disrespectfully, staying safe, having people ask me personal questions or telling me ‘I need to do this or that,’ etc. I have learned to rely on myself and have found who my true friends are.

How do you manage stress and maintain your mental health?

I meditate and practice Gratitude. Even though I wake up on a bus stop bench or the ground, at least I woke up. A lot of people did not wake up this morning.

What motivates you to put one foot before the other on your most challenging days?

What motivates me is that I have people who rely on me – who tell me that I Inspire /Motivate/ Encourage them. If I stop showing up – who will they be able to rely on?

Have you drawn inspiration from other women? Could you tell us about someone who has inspired you?

My mom Sandra Hardie inspires me. She is a Mother of four – Grandmother of two – great-grandmother of one. She has been through the loss of a spouse (my dad William E Hardie ) and her oldest daughter ( my sister Dawn).

She endured moving from Massachusetts to Okinawa for a 1-year-old (me) and a 6 & 7-year-old ( my sisters) because her husband was a Staff Sergeant in the Military and was in the Vietnam War. He got stationed in Okinawa and was injured there. She has multiple friends that she has known for decades, and they spend a lot of time together. She has instilled dedication, politeness, confidence, independence, etc, in me and my siblings.

Would you change anything about how you have handled challenges or successes thus far?

Not really. Even though there have been some things that, in hindsight, could have been handled differently, they have shaped me into the person I am now.

What are you most proud of?

I am proud of many things -what I am most proud of is being an awesome aunt to my nephews Justin and Michael and a cool great aunt to my three 1/2-year-old niece Michelle.

What is your favorite way to practice self-care?

  • Meditation
  • Journaling
  • Practicing Gratitude

How do you stay motivated to maintain a healthy lifestyle?

Because I know that things will be more challenging when I get older – I maintain things now.

How do you prioritize your time and energy to achieve your personal and professional goals? What tips can you offer others?

I decide what is the most important – what will impact me the most and do that first.

Tips – give yourself a time limit to do a task – start a new one when the time is up.
