BVEM Announces The Return of Mister Rogers’ Week of Kindness

2nd Annual Mister Rogers’ Week of Kindness Returns in April

Orlando, Fla. – Rich Bradley, President & CEO of Buena Vista Events and Management, announced the return of the much-anticipated Mister Rogers’ Week of Kindness at the Edyth Busch Charitable Foundation in Winter Park. Scheduled for the week of April 1-6, 2024, this series of events promises to nurture warmth and community spirit, inspired by the beloved children’s television host and American icon Fred Rogers.

Last year, the inaugural event captivated hearts with a series of educational and public gatherings that celebrated the enduring legacy of Mister Rogers. This year, Buena Vista Events & Management is poised to elevate the experience with various events that pay homage to Rogers’ profound impact on children and adults alike.

New Mister Rogers Piano Concert Hosted at Rollins College

The Mister Rogers’ Week of Kindness lineup includes the enchanting Remember the Rogers Afternoon Tea, reflective Mister Rogers’ Prayer Breakfast, and a new addition, Mister Rogers: The Musician Concert. This concert, held at the John M. Tiedtke Concert Hall at Rollins College, will be presented by Dan Crozier, DMA, Rollins College Professor of Music, Theory and Composition, and Rogers’ nephew, offering a unique musical journey through Rogers’ life and work.

Storytelling Sessions with Cast and Crew of Mister Rogers Neighborhood

Storytelling sessions will feature David Newell, known to many as Mr. McFeely, alongside Margy Whitmer, the producer of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, and Hedda Sharapan, a senior fellow at the Rogers Institute, to add to the richness of the week. Their narratives will weave the fabric of Rogers’ philosophy of kindness, understanding, and neighborly love.

The events, mainly accessible to the public, require a reservation and encourage support of a charitable cause. Attendees are encouraged to donate new or gently worn sweaters and shoes to benefit local charities, continuing Rogers’ legacy of helping those in need.

A Symbol of Kindness and Strength

John Sinclair speaking at the Edyth Busch Charitable Foundation about his relationship with Fred Rogers

John V. Sinclair, a close friend of Rogers and a distinguished professor at Rollins College, shared a Mister Rogers quote to close out the celebration of the return of the week of kindness.

“Most of us, I believe, admire strength. It’s something we tend to respect in others, desire for ourselves, and wish for our children. Sometimes, though, I wonder if we confuse strength with other words—like ‘aggression’ and even ‘violence.’ Real strength is neither male nor female; but it is, quite simply, one of the finest characteristics that a human being can possess.” – Fred Rogers”
