October brings fall colors, cooler weather, and good times outdoors. It is also the time of year the East Orlando Chamber of Commerce (EOCC) will be celebrating education beginning with the October Monthly Luncheon on Wednesday, October 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Stoneybrook East Golf Club. The event will feature JoAnn Newman, President/CEO, of the Orlando Science Center.
This is the 10th year the chamber is recognizing East Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) at Education Day. OCPS faculty is offered free booth spaces to promote their schools to bring awareness and raise funds for their programs. The students get a chance to show off their talents on stage with musical, chorus, or performance groups, and they also have the opportunity to win prizes by participating in the Spelling Bee, math competition, and science contests. Families can enjoy the day visiting vendor booths, playing in the Kids Zone, pony rides, food trucks, and more. Join the fun on Saturday, October 18 at Avalon Park Town Center. Contact EOCC to reserve your booth space or for more information.
Proceeds from Kids Zone wristband sales support the EOCC scholarship fund. There are five scholarships awarded to one qualified senior from each of the East Orange County public high schools, which are University, Colonial, Lake Nona, Timber Creek, and East River. Visit www.eocc.org to download a copy of the application.
Next up is the EOCC Tailgate Party on Saturday, October 25. Stop by to cheer on the UCF Knights versus the Temple Owls. Enjoy a hospitality tent with food from Tony Roma’s, adult libations, and fun games for the whole family. For tickets, contact the chamber office.
