Central Florida drivers will no longer be able to use cash payments at night when going through tolls, starting on April 22.
The Central Florida Expressway Authority announced drivers must use transponders or “pay by plate” if they plan on traveling between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
For those who choose to “pay by plate,” an invoice will be sent in the mail.
In a news release speaking about transitioning to a cashless system before the end of 2025, the Central Florida Expressway Authority said these changes are for a “smoother, safer, and more efficient” driving experience on the expressway.
The Central Florida Expressway Authority would also like to remind drivers they will never text or call about outstanding toll fees and to remain cautious when receiving texts of that nature.
