ORLANDO, FLA. – This Earth Day, Central Floridians can put those unwanted golf clubs to good use by participating in the Drive Shack Drive 4 Change initiative and recycling their clubs for a cause.
In partnership with The First Tee of Central Florida and 2nd Swing, the Drive 4 Change campaign kicks off today and runs through May 8. During this time, individuals can swing by Drive Shack Orlando to donate used golf clubs. It can be anything from a single iron to a putter to a full set of clubs. These donations will help benefit The First Tee and support its mission of positively impacting the lives of young people through the game of golf. In return, each person donating clubs will receive FREE BayPlay or a RoboGolfPro lesson with Drive Shack’s PGA Professional.
“The work that The First Tee does in supporting youth development here in Central Florida is truly inspirational and we’re honored to be partnering with them on this club drive to further their cause,” said Ken May, CEO of Drive Shack. “It’s great to be able to play a role in helping encourage and inspire children to pursue their passions and build the life skills that will help them attain their dreams.”
What to Expect
Both golf clubs and cash donations will be collected at Drive Shack’s Orlando venue located at 7285 Corner Drive. Free BayPlay or RoboGolfPro sessions will be provided based on the number of clubs donated, as follows:
- 1-3 clubs will receive one hour of free BayPlay
- 4-6 clubs will receive two hours of free BayPlay
- 7 or more clubs will receive four hours of free BayPlay
- Those donating a complete set (14 or more clubs) will receive a free two-hour RoboGolfPro lesson
Donated clubs will be valued and converted to cash donations with the help of 2nd Swing. All Drive 4 Change proceeds will be given directly to The First Tee of Central Florida. In addition, Drive Shack, with the support of the PGA TOUR Superstore – Orlando, will be presenting The First Tee of Central Florida with brand new sets of junior golf clubs to give to the young people they serve.
“We’re grateful to Drive Shack for all they are doing to positively impact the participants of The First Tee of Central Florida,” said Thomas Lawrence, executive director of The First Tee of Central Florida. “Many of our participants have never held a club before joining our program and many of them don’t have access to clubs that properly fit their needs. To be able to present these worthy participants with their very own set of new clubs is tremendous. Through their growth in the game, young people will be able to utilize the opportunities presented to them to reach their wildest dreams and goals on, and more importantly off, the course. We cannot thank Drive Shack enough for making this happen.”
