Central Floridians looking to do good by donating clothing and household items that they no longer need or want will soon have two new options.
Goodwill Industries of Central Florida is set to open two new Donation Xpress (DX) centers on June 3rd. One will be located in Ormond Beach at 1425 W. Granada Blvd., and the other in Orlando at 7250 Aloma Ave. These new facilities will collectively add over half a dozen jobs to the local workforce, providing a more convenient way for residents to drop off gently used items. At both locations, employees will assist donors by meeting them at their vehicles to pick up donations, which will then be sold at Goodwill retail stores across Orange, Volusia, Brevard, Osceola, Lake, and Seminole counties.
“When we open these new donation centers, we’re not just expanding our footprint in Central Florida; we’re also deepening our commitment to the communities we serve,” said Ed Durkee, president and CEO. “Each donation to Goodwill fuels our mission of ‘Building Lives that Work’ while also reducing waste. With Central Florida’s help, we’re filling a vital role in the circular economy by reusing and recycling materials.”
Goodwill’s impact on the community is significant. More than 90% of the revenue generated from sales at their 31 retail stores is reinvested into the organization to provide jobs and training opportunities.
