Florida Football: The Great Sunshine State Debate

With impending storms of Hurricane Ian still looming statewide, that is not stopping our Florida football teams from carrying on as usual. With something to prove, we hope to see the Florida Gators step up and reach their full potential, Florida State to hold on as they celebrate an undefeated season this far and UCF continue on their road to a winning season.

What To Watch

With all three games grabbing the home field advantage, this Saturday should be a difficult day for all out of state opponents. Most importantly, this week, the Florida State Seminoles are the team to watch! The #23 Florida State Seminoles will be the only matchup featuring two ranked opponents in the State of Florida as they take on the #22 Wake Forest Demon Deacons in Tallahassee. The game will be played at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallassee on Saturday at 3:30 PM ET and it will be broadcast on ABC.

Florida State Seminoles

What a difference a year makes! The Seminoles, who went 0-4 at this time last year are now the only Florida team with a 4-0 season. FSU coach Mike Norvell makes a statement regarding the victories over LSU (24-23) and Louisville (35-31) “I am very pleased with this team for all they’ve done up to this point, but especially this week. Because we came off a couple emotional games,” One of the many reasons for FSU’s recent success is star quarterback Jordan Travis, a 6-2, 185-pound dual- threat from North Palm Beach, FL. Travis is the younger brother of Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Devon Travis.

The Golden Knights

The UCF Knights played Elton Johns, “Rocket Man” after Saturdays game as the fans watched the rocket launch from the FBC Mortage Stadium which may serve as a symbol of how this season will play out for UCF. Pending clearance from Hurricane Ian, UCF is set to take on the Southern Methodist University on Saturday at 3:30 PM ET on ESPNU.

Gator Country

Off the heels of a devastating loss to the Tennessee Volunteers, the Florida Gators will also host an out of state opponent this weekend, as they faceoff with the Eastern Washington Eagles. Florida, who is struggling to find its groove under new head coach, Billy Napier, appears to be continuing its search for answers offensively, despite already having one of college football’s top quarterbacks. The game is scheduled for Saturday, 12 PM ET.
