#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that is inspired by humanity and generosity. Whether you’re giving back to an organization you care about or simply completing an act of kindness for a stranger, today is all about uplifting and connecting with those around you. Here are a few local organizations you can support this Giving Tuesday.
Shepherd’s Hope
Shepherd’s Hope provides free healthcare services, education and wellness programs for those without insurance. Give a donation or volunteer your time either as a licensed professional or a general volunteer and help give back to low-income individuals.
Matthew’s Hope
Matthew’s Hope Ministries is a faith-based non-profit organization that serves local individuals who are homeless by connecting them with various resources and services of need. The organization is fully funded by local donations.
One Heart for Women and Children
One Heart for Women and Children helps provide food, clothing and other essentials to individuals experiencing homelessness, including educational services like parenting classes or addiction prevention. Volunteer, donate money or donate items to assist the organization.
Edgewood Children’s Ranch
Edgewood Children’s Ranch helps at-risk children and their families by providing a faith-based home and school for them to heal and change the direction of their lives. Donations made by the end of the year will be matched by the Lewis Family Foundation.
ASD Adult Achievement Center
The ASD Adult Achievement Center’s goal is to empower young adults who have autism spectrum disorder by teaching them how to become more independent as they navigate through life. Your donation will help impact the lives of many ASD adults.
St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital
St. Jude has raised the childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to 80%. There are many ways to help contribute to St. Jude’s mission: one time donation or monthly donations, shop at their gift shop or one of their partners, or volunteering.
All Paws on Deck
This 100% volunteer-based organization rescues dogs and cats with disease, illness, and injury and puts an effort into their recovery and placement in a safe environment. You can help by volunteering, donating, or adopting one of their furry friends.
Foundation for Women’s Cancer
The Foundation for Women’s Cancer’s mission is to increase the awareness of gynecologic cancers and their risks as well as early detection and optimal treatments. Help by donating to FWC’s Move4Her. Your donation will help raise funds for research and education for the five gynecologic cancers.
Goodwill Thanks for Giving
Goodwill Industries of Central Florida (GICF) is hosting a “Thanks for Giving” event. From open to close at both Goodwill retail stores and Donation Xpress locations, community members who donate during Giving Tuesday will receive a 10% coupon to use on their next purchase. Donations that are strongly encouraged are shoes and sneakers, small appliances, housewares, and clothes. Ninety percent of GICF’s annual revenue is channeled into programs that help Central Floridians secure employment and economically thrive.
Happy Giving Tuesday
Remember, Giving Tuesday is all about radical generosity worldwide. The goal is to remind and encourage people to incorporate generosity into everyday life. An act of kindness goes a long way. Happy Giving Tuesday!
