Inside 2018’s MegaCon Orlando

MegaCon is coming to Orlando from May 24-27! Comic, sci-fi, anime and gaming fans will flock to the Orange County Convention Center for a four-day extravaganza.

Over 100,000 fans are expected to participate in the celebration of all things pop culture, and some of the biggest names in the MegaCon world are lined up for a variety of workshops and fan interaction experiences. Here, we break down the top reasons to grab your ticket soon to this one-of-a-kind pop culture expo.

Celebrity Appearances

MegaCon is known for its all-star appearances, and this year is no different. Well-known names from the film industry to the tattoo industry will be in attendance to sit on celebrity panels, sign autographs and take pictures with fans. This year’s celebrity lineup includes Jeff Goldblum of Jurassic Park, Elijah Wood of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Creator Jim Lee, Brian Stelfrese of the Black Panther series, WWE superstar John Cena, Jennifer Morrison from Once Upon a Time, Wallace Shawn of The Princess Bride, Youtuber Lasercorn, and actor Gregg Sulkin.  

The Batmobile from the 1989 film Batman will also be open for photo opportunities all week.

Panels and How-To Workshops

Get all the inside information about your favorite comics, movies and animators during their celebrity panels. Ask the pros all of your questions to get the inside scoop on your favorite TV shows and movies. Learn all about your favorite industries from some of the best people in the business. The 2018 celebrity panel schedule is being announced soon.

Attractions

Throughout this four-day festival there will be tons of attractions that would leave any fan drooling. The Master of Cosplay Qualifier will be right in the middle of the event. This highly anticipated event is a Southeast Qualifier competition for the FAN EXPO’s Masters of Cosplay Grand Prix.

There will be a tattoo pavillion with open availability for an appointment with your favorite artists. Artist Alley will include comic graphics and limited edition items of all kinds.

With over 500 vendors, 400,000 square feet of retail space will be available for shopping. MegaCon is the place to find that one-of-a-kind comic or rare memorabilia, so you won’t want to miss the biggest shopping event in the southeast.

The Annual Children Costume Contest will also be happening at this year’s MegaCon. Registration for the contest will be held on Sunday with a maximum of 50 kids ages 12 or under. The contest will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Orlando Appeal

MegaCon brings the best of the best in pop culture to The City Beautiful and offers tons of activities to pack in while you’re in town. I-Drive 360 offers three different attractions all in the same place. Cosplay lovers should check Madame Tussauds to meet famous faces like Beyonce and Justin Bieber before taking in the sights on the 400-foot Coca-Cola Orlando Eye and going under the sea to explore all types of marine life at SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium.

While you’re here, consider also exploring area attractions that include both fun and food. Wonderworks is an upside down adventure that is right down the street from the Orange County Convention Center. Activities include a ropes course, laser tag and a comedy-magic dinner show every night. Or make reservations for dinner and a show at Mango’s Tropical Cafe, which features live Conga and Merengue performances as well as a Michael Jackson tribute and more as you enjoy a delicious meal of Mango’s signature Floribbean cuisine.
