On April 23rd, Lift Disability Network will host its 1st annual Cornhole Tournament from 10:00 am-1:00 p.m. at Foundation Academy, 15304 Tilden Rd. Winter Garden. Registration will open at 9:00 a.m. and bags will start flying at 10:00 a.m.!
Lift Disability Network’s mission is to “inspire individuals and families living with disabilities to discover a new vision for their future.” This is made possible through the camps, community events and family services that Lift provides year-round.
“We love being a part of the West Orange community and we are so grateful for the generosity that has been shown to our families,” says Executive Director Jim Hukill. “Lift is passionate for families living with disabilities and this event provides the ability to have life elevated for 20% of our community that face isolation, fatigue, and hopelessness.”
The Cornhole Tournament will allow the organization to raise funds to send families to Breakaway Summer Camp. Breakaway Summer Camp is a five-day family retreat designed to provide relaxation, recreation, and spiritual renewal for the disability family.
It allows families impacted by disabilities to enjoy a week filled with pampering, water activities, arts & crafts, and more. In addition, each camper with a disability is matched to a buddy for the week. The buddies and programming staff at Lift serves each family with individualized attention and lots of love.
Hukill says every dollar raised will make this possible, so he is super excited for the tournament.
“Families living with disabilities need opportunities to believe, dream, and reach for something better. We are so excited to host our first annual cornhole tournament,” Hukill says. “This event will give our community an opportunity to make a difference in the disability family. We are grateful for every sponsor, participant, and volunteer who have made this day possible so that others may discover a new vision for their future.”
There are multiple levels of sponsorships available. Some of the perks include: your business logo on a cornhole board, social media exposure, and team entry to play.

History
At the age of 20 months, Jim and Rhonette found out that their child Jim Hukill had a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy. After doing extensive research on the disease, the Hukill’s realized there were few resources available. They also discovered that 80% of families that encounter disability issues break up, and that disability impacts 20% of the American population.
As a result, the Hukill’s decided to launch Eleos– The Care Network, Inc., a ministry of hope, in November 1998. Then in November 2006, Eleos launched Lift Disability Network.
This expansion and organizational restructure would allow for elevation of life for disability families. “Lift Disability Network is a community where the disability family is embraced, encouraged, and empowered. An intersection where helplessness meets hopefulness…a place of healing for wounded souls…and a connection to faith for a better life.”
