Orange County Experience Graduates Fourth Class

The fourth class of the Orange County Experience program recently participated in a graduation ceremony at the Board of County Commissioners Chambers. The program, which kicked off over the summer, provides citizens and community leaders the opportunity to learn more about Orange County Government and the vital services that the county provides to the region.

“After a busy and education-filled 11 weeks, I am proud to congratulate our fourth Orange County Experience class on successfully completing our citizens program,” Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs says.

This year’s graduating class held 20 citizens who were given an inside view of the internal operations of Orange County. They learned about technology, infrastructure, neighborhoods, and health and family services. Orange County staff gave presentations and tours of the Convention Center, Fire Rescue and Parks & Recreation. Graduates of the program often go on to serve on citizen advisory boards and continue their service through other volunteer opportunities.

Alan Morrison, an East Orlando resident and member of this year’s graduating class, enjoyed the program and encourages other citizens to participate. “It was an eye-opening experience to see what services are provided to citizens,” he says.
