Serenades for her

As of April 2022, women in Central Florida can now experience a new and exclusively female memory care lifestyle option thanks to Sonata Senior Living. Called Serenades for her, the leading edge program is now accepting new residents at Serenades at the Villages, Serenades at Longwood and Serenades at West Orange. 

Sonata Senior Living is an Orlando-based owner, operator, and developer of senior living communities.  In each community, Serenades for her neighborhoods will undergo extensive transformations to cater exclusively to women affected by Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

“The Serenades for her concept is the result of truly listening to the needs of our residents and their loved ones and witnessing the benefits of an exclusively female neighborhood,” says Shelley Esden, COO, Sonata Senior Living. “ The concept was initially piloted at Serenades at West Orange in Winter Garden. After experiencing success with an unprecedented demand with the pilot, we are excited to officially announce this program in all three Serenades Memory Care communities.”

Memory care programming at Serenades for her will accommodate a woman’s greater need for socialization. These all-female neighborhoods will create a social environment in which women can revel in a newfound sense of sisterhood, friendship, and support. Activities centered on art, music, culture, exercise and more will support social interaction tailored to female preferences. Dining and family room environments are also exclusively women-only. 

All in all, the program will provide an opportunity for more woman-to-woman relationships, which  can be life-affirming. It should be noted that on average women have longer lifespans than men, but they also experience Alzheimer’s disease and dementia differently and with greater frequency. The all-female neighborhood concept simplifies life for the resident and her loved ones, providing a greater degree of gender-specific privacy while giving family members increased peace of mind.

To evoke a sense of comfort and serenity, Serenades for her will have a distinctly feminine appeal. This includes a more feminine color palette and décor, and flooring enhancements that will soften architectural features and furnishings. Amenities such as Bath-tique Spa will offer the opportunity for moments of pure luxuriance while the on-site salon specializes in women’s beauty services. A beautiful outdoor courtyard and garden space are also available.
