On Dec. 3, Orange County School Board Member Pam Gould, from District 4, was awarded with the 2015 STAR School Board Member of the Year Award for her exemplary leadership. She was recognized with this honor at the 70th Annual Joint Conference of Florida School Boards Association and Florida Association of District School Superintendents held in Tampa.
Gould received this recognition from the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations, which is the membership organization for Florida’s school district-wide local education foundations. Established in 1987, it seeks to advance student achievement in Florida by increasing private sector investment and involvement in public education.
Leaders from the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools nominated Gould for her efforts in building stronger relationships and better alignment between the education foundation, the school district, individual schools and the community. Gould was elected to the Orange County School Board in 2012, and her extensive nonprofit and experience has been tapped into regularly since her 2014 appointment as the school board’s representative on the education foundation board.
