Tour de Chamber Goes the Extra Mile with New Event

I mentioned earlier this year that the Chamber turned 50. And just like people who turn 50, organizations self-reflect and determine what they want their future’s to look like. It is a time to renew and refresh.

The Chamber has been doing that all year with our brand and logo. As we were approaching Sept. 29, the rescheduled date for “Best Fest – The Taste of West Orange”, we realized we couldn’t proceed with the event at that time. To ask our food and beverage members to participate in this event when there continues to be a labor shortage and higher food prices, would have been counterproductive to the purpose of the event and hurt the bottom line of businesses.

Rather than put this burden on our food and beverage vendors and to ensure they remain on a path of recovery and growth, we pulled out pre-pandemic plans for a different opportunity for our members. This new opportunity is an event that all may participate in if you know how to ride a bike. And who doesn’t know how to do that!?

Tour de Chamber

Tour De Chamber – Corporate Bike Ride is a perfect replacement event that allows all participants to renew their love of something most of us learned when we were children. Whether the bike has lots of gears or only one, the ride is a fun recreational 8.2-mile bike loop which includes paved sidewalks and a paved bike trail through the neighborhoods of Hamlin in Horizon West. This is a great opportunity for team building, and for anyone participating to disconnect, get out of work mode, and be active.

So, in our 50th year, we should be looking at renewing and refreshing ourselves. Let’s get together for this inaugural ride. A cycling event is a perfect replacement because it is still outdoors and allows us to support our businesses with this team building corporate bike ride. In addition, it creates an opportunity for the chamber to support one of our greatest partners, Healthy West Orange which has charged itself with the mission of making West Orange County the healthiest community in the nation.

Perks for riders

Riders will be treated to beverages and snacks at the mid-point provided by Orlando Health and at the finish line by Home State Brewing Co. Food will also be provided, and shirts and water bottles will be courtesy of We Are Winter Garden and Imagine That Promo. Bicycle support will be provided by Winter Garden Wheel Works and Boyd Development/Hamlin are providing full support in their town center to riders and sponsors.
