Following the mass shooting on FSU’s campus on Thursday, UCF is reassuring students of increased security and access to mental health resources on campus.
UCF made a statement showing support for the Noles, reading:
“We stand in solidarity with the FSU community during this impossibly difficult time, sending our strength and support as they navigate the aftermath of this tragedy,” the message stated. “We know that this news may feel especially personal for many in our community — please know that you are not alone. We are here to listen and to help you feel safe, cared for, and supported.”
The UCF Police Department also released a statement letting students know there will be increased patrolling and officer presence on university grounds.
Students are encouraged to contact UCF’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) for mental health services, such as appointments, walk-ins, or by calling their 24/7 crisis hotline at 407-823-2811.
Faculty and staff can utilize the Employee Assistance Program by dialing 877-240-6863.
