As the school year is coming to a close, the YMCA of Central Florida is welcoming summer with its annual Healthy Kids Day event.

The event will run on Saturday, April 26, at its 14 family center locations. Healthy Kids Day is meant to promote healthy habits and lifestyles for kids to practice during their summer break with games, youth sports, exercise demos, aquatic activities, arts and crafts and educational sessions..

“Healthy Kids Day is a celebration of ways to stay active and safe this summer,” Kevin Bolding, president and CEO of the YMCA of Central Florida, said in a press release. “Here at the Y, we believe that kids who are happy, engaged and active pave the way for a stronger, healthier community.”

While the event will focus on health and wellness, the YMCA of Central Florida also wants to highlight the importance of community literacy through its partnership with New Worlds Reading Initiatives.

Guests will receive a free lunch, free book and be able to listen to a guest reader.
