UCF Alternate Uniforms Are Spacy

UCF football fans are going to love the uniform that will be worn in today’s homecoming game against East Carolina. Dubbed the “Space Game”, UCF players will be sporting the newly revealed black, space-themed uniforms in honor of their history with NASA missions.

The helmets include various constellations including Gemini and Orion, which gives the uniform a real space-age feel. The starry stripe represents a portion of the Andromeda Galaxy, which is not only the galaxy closest to earth, but is a section of the largest image assembled by the Hubble Space Telescope. The UCF website provides additional insight into the constellations represented in the stripe.

UCF states that is has been involved in eight NASA missions and with the discovery of a planet in 2012 by UCF researchers, the school has the honor of that planet being named after them.

According to the UCF website, the school was founded with the mission of supporting the space program that was taking off on Florida’s east coast.

Their motto “Reach for the Stars” demonstrated the university’s commitment to aerospace education which included electronics and engineering.
