Wednesday’s conclusion to the 2019 recruiting cycle put UCF football back in familiar territory, finishing atop the American Athletic Conference. Coach Josh Heupel and his staff put the finishing touches on the school’s highest-rated class since 2010. As has been the case with many UCF recruiting classes throughout history, a majority of 2019’s class is comprised of home-grown Florida talent.
“That’s the great thing about being here in the fertile recruiting ground that you have at your disposal. You can recruit the area, tons of great players. Big guys. Skill guys. I’m really proud of what we did inside of the city and surrounding counties.” Heupel said at Wednesday’s media session.
The Hawaiian pipeline remained intact as well, with the Knights landing offensive lineman, Lokahi Pauole on Wednesday. Pauole joins Dillon Gabriel, a 3-star quarterback who signed in December and is already enrolled in spring classes on campus. Gabriel hails from Mililani High School, the same school that produced current UCF quarterback, McKenzie Milton.
The Knights will also welcome graduate transfers Brandon Wimbush (QB, Notre Dame) and Jordan Haynes (DB, Duke) to the roster next season.
Nationally, the Knights finished with the 56th ranked class overall – second among non-power five schools behind only Boise State (49th).
