Which players could make an impact for the Miami Dolphins this season?

The NFL season has fully kicked off and the Miami Dolphins are looking to capitalize on their impressive performance from the previous season. Head Coach Mike McDaniel has put together a talented roster with a good balance of experienced players and up-and-coming rookies. However, there are certain players in the NFL standings that are worth keeping a close eye on. These stars have the potential to make a real difference to the results for the Dolphins this season.

We take a look into the current performance and potential of some of these key players, including Tyreek Hill, Jalen Ramsey, and De’Von Achane. These players each have a unique skill set they bring to the team.

Tyreek Hill (Wide Receiver)

First up is Wide Receiver Tyreek Hill, the 30 year old from Georgia is known as “Cheetah” due to his impressive speed. In 2022 he was traded to the Dolphins by the Chiefs and later signed a $120 million dollar extension in a four year deal. This made him one of the highest paid receivers in NFL history.

In his time at the Miami club, he has transformed their offensive. In his first season he recorded a whopping 1710 receiving yards, as well as seven touchdowns. The player’s agility and speed makes him a difficult opponent for the opposing team’s defensive side.

In 2023, having reached over 1,000 receiving yards after the eighth week, he was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October. Hill was then ranked as the best player in the league according to his peers in the NFL Top 100 Players of 2024 list.

He is also known to have improved the chemistry he has with team quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Whether he is being used in screens, jet sweeps or vertical routes, his ability to turn short plays into huge gains makes him a game changer for the Dolphins.

If the player can avoid injury and maintain his current level of play, he will continue to be a centerpiece in the team’s offense.

Jalen Ramsey (Cornerback)

29 year old Jelen Ramsey from Tennessee has only been with the Miami Dolphins since 2023 but has already made a big impact. Following his time at the Jacksonville Jaguars and helping them end a 10 year playoff drought, he was traded to the LA Rams.

He became one of the highest paid NFL defensive backs in 2020 after agreeing to an extension. Ramsey remained with the Rams until he was traded out during the 2023 offseason.

He may not have got off to the best start with Miami but sure has made up for it since. During training he tore his meniscus and was ruled out of play for months. However, in Week 11 he was instrumental in the team’s success with two interceptions, one of which was a game sealing play in the late stages of the game.

His leadership is just what the Dolphins are in need of. The player is an aggressive corner and is capable of locking down wide receivers and excelling in zone schemes. He has the ability to shadow the best receiver and allows the team to take more risks in their game strategy.

De’Von Achane (Running Back)

Lastly, another of the Miami Dolphins top players is the Running Back De’Von Achane. Aged just 22, the Texas born rookie has already made a big impact in the NFL. He was selected by the Miami Dolphins with the 84th pick in the third round of the NFL draft for 2023.

Achane is best known for his speed and versatility as a player and brings with him a new dynamic to the team’s offensive side. Over his career he was shown his significant abilities as both a receiver and a rusher.

His ability to catch passes out of the backfield gives the Dolphins the confidence they need in order to mix up their play-calling a little more. They are able to diversify their offensive scheme and create mismatches for the opposing team’s defense.
