Senior Resource Alliance (SRA) is strengthening its efforts to protect older adults online by donating 5,000 downloads of the CyberFence app in 2025. This initiative marks the second year of collaboration between SRA and Perez Technology Group, following a similar donation made in 2024.
CyberFence, a user-friendly cybersecurity application, is designed to shield users from digital threats by blocking cyberattacks and encrypting sensitive personal data. Its intuitive interface helps seniors navigate the increasingly digital world safely and securely.
Elder fraud remains a growing concern. In 2023, online scams cost victims an average of nearly $34,000, amounting to more than $3.4 billion in total losses across the United States. Common schemes targeting seniors include tech support scams, phishing and smishing attempts, and fraudulent shopping websites.
“More of day-to-day life is going digital, which means there are increased opportunities for bad actors to take advantage of people,” Karla Radka, President & CEO of Senior Resource Alliance said. “This partnership empowers Central Florida’s seniors to schedule telehealth appointments and connect with loved ones virtually without having to worry about criminals stealing their private information or hard-earned money.”
Residents interested in accessing CyberFence can contact SRA’s Elder Helpline at 1-800-96-ELDER for more information.
