Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida has been awarded a $29,500 grant from State Farm, a contribution that will help provide over 118,000 meals to individuals and families facing hunger in Marion, Lake, and Volusia counties.

This recent grant highlights State Farm’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities. In addition to the financial donation, State Farm agents and employees volunteered their time during a special service event on April 22. Team members gathered at Second Harvest’s main distribution center, where they sorted and packed donated food for distribution.

“Forging new community partnerships like this one with State Farm is vital to sustaining hunger relief efforts,” Derrick Chubbs, President and CEO at Second Harvest said. “With one in eight Central Floridians facing food insecurity, every dollar donated, and every volunteer hour served, makes a meaningful difference. We’re grateful to State Farm for stepping up to help meet this critical need.”

State Farm also emphasized the importance of addressing food insecurity across the country.

“Food insecurity, the inability to access food, impacts many individuals and families throughout the United States,” Jose Soto, State Farm Corporate Responsibility Analyst said. “We take immense pride in the dedicated efforts of The Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida as they help people obtain the food and resources they need to thrive.”

Each day, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida distributes enough food to provide 300,000 meals through a network of more than 870 community feeding partners across seven Central Florida counties.
